What is ListYourIdea?

A weekly launch board for founders and makers — how the board works, what a listing gets you, and why we built it around weeks instead of one frantic day.

ListYourIdea is a place to launch what you built and be found afterwards. A new board opens every Monday, your product sits on it for the whole week, and the ranking is decided by how many people click through to your product.

That is the whole idea. The rest of this is how it works.

The board runs on weeks, not a single day

Most launch platforms give you one 24-hour window. You pick a day, you ask everyone you know to show up inside those hours, and then the page moves on without you.

A week is long enough that a good product can climb on merit rather than on how many people you could mobilise before lunch. It also means a launch in a bad timezone is not a wasted launch.

Each Monday the board resets and last week's launches move into the archive, which stays browsable at /launch.

What a listing actually gets you

Three things, in order of how much they matter.

A page that ranks. Your listing is a real, crawlable page with your name, tagline, description, features, audience and screenshots. It is indexed, it links to your site, and it keeps working long after launch week ends.

A place in a category. Every product is filed under topics people browse — AI, developer tools, marketing, and the rest. Someone looking for what you built can find it without knowing your name.

A profile that accumulates. Everything you launch collects on one profile. Your third launch benefits from the first two instead of starting from zero.

Clicks decide the order

There is no editorial ranking on the board. Weekly boards are ordered by real clicks — people leaving ListYourIdea to visit your product — and every click counts the same. The homepage reshuffles its picks every day, so every project gets a turn near the top.

Paid placement exists and is always labelled. A sponsored listing rotates through the banner at the top of the homepage, marked Sponsored — it never quietly outranks something that earned its position.

Launching is free

Submitting a product costs nothing. Two paid options exist and both are marked wherever they appear: Featured puts a listing on the homepage, and Sponsored buys a slot in the homepage banner. Neither affects where a project ranks.

Everything else is ordered purely by clicks.

Getting the most out of a launch

A few things consistently separate a listing that works from one that does not.

Fill the whole form. The description, the problem you solve, who it is for and your key features all show on your product page — a listing with only a tagline gives a visitor nothing to act on.

Write the first comment on your own launch explaining why you built it. That is what starts a real discussion rather than a row of silent visits.

And point your own audience at your listing on launch week. The board rewards products people care about; it cannot tell anyone cares if nobody shows up.

That is it. Launch something and see how the week goes.
